Capacitor's core SystemBars plugin re-applies its default style on every configuration change (rotation, fold, theme), which made status bar icons dark on the dark app background in light system theme. SystemBars and StatusBar are now set to DARK in capacitor.config.ts and at startup in App.tsx.
The Android theme disables the navigation bar contrast scrim and uses #111928 as the window background, so the bottom nav shows behind the 3-button navigation bar instead of a white strip, and cold start no longer flashes white bars.
Android now uses CSS env(safe-area-inset-*) values, which SystemBars keeps accurate for the keyboard and rotation. This removes the gap above the keyboard and the stale bottom padding in landscape. iOS still uses capacitor-plugin-safe-area.
The App.tsx and safe-area changes can ship as a live update; the config and theme changes need a store build.

Android WebView before 140 reports wrong env(safe-area-inset-*) values. SystemBars injects --safe-area-inset-* for those, so use them first and fall back to env() when they are unset.

The zeroconf web fallback created one rejected promise when its module loaded. Vite bundles the fallback into the vendor chunk, so every platform logged an unhandled rejection on startup. Patch it to reject per call instead.
